Keeping Memories
Scrapbooking Workshop
“Keeping Memories” - A Scrapbooking workshop with Stephanie 'Marina Red' Burgess
All those little keepsakes of day trips and holidays, the ticket stubs, the information leaflets, the photos, the memories of special times with our loved ones. We all have 'that box' somewhere, perhaps gathering dust on a shelf, only taken out occasionally when we want to re-live those moments and feel the joy in our hearts once again that we felt on that day. These memories and experiences are what make us who we are today, they're a part of our life journey. A small item of memorabilia has the power to transport us and as we allow our memory to reawaken, we can activate in our brain all the feel good chemicals which can then lift our spirits on even the most dull and dreary day, thus improving our emotional wellbeing and giving us the coping mechanisms to visualise better days for our future.
In this workshop, Marina will demonstrate some techniques to you of how to begin putting these items into a visually appealing scrapbook. You will be given a chance to put these skills into practise as you create some of your own scrapbook pages. She will show you how to develop your pages, filling them with items you attach to your experiences and creating some pages that you will want to show off to family and friends. You will be guided to reflect upon finding beauty even in the most mundane of objects and be invited to create some pages which celebrate the moments we hold dear in our memories. You need no experience and all materials will be provided, however, feel free to bring along any of your favourite pens, stickers, stencils or any other crafting material you feel you may want to include. The workshop is designed to make you an independent scrapbook maker and inspire you to continue the processes from home. Get ready for that dusty old box to be converted into a beautiful keepsake of memories which will be enjoyed by you and your family for years to come.
The first of these workshops will be held on the 5th November as a part of a wellbeing day at The Ministry of Yoga's Open Mind Cafe in Crewe. Please email marinaisred@gmail.com to register your interest. Tickets will go on sale at the beginning of October. Spaces will be very limited.
Information will also be posted on Stephanie's Facebook Group and The Open Mind Cafe's social media.
